Recent pictures of our family

Here are some of the latest pictures of our family. Check out Evan's new glasses!

Colette and I went to the Rockford Symphony Orchestra on Saturday night to see Alon Goldstein play Beethoven's 5th Piano Concerto. He was incredible, the best pianist that I have seen and heard live for a long time.

9 Marks

It has been a great while since I have posted on this blog. It has been a very busy few weeks. I have been busy painting as well as many duties at church. I am also teaching the adult SS class as well.

I am currently reading the condensed version of Mark Dever's "9 Marks of a Healthy Church" found at Dever's website. This is a great tool to use for interviewing new members. We are currently using this as we meet with prospective members at Morning Star Baptist Church. Praise the Lord that he is growing not only our church spiritually, but also numerically.

Also, I have just finished reading J Mac's "The Truth War" which is an excellent treatise on the emergent church and its errors. It is a pretty simple but great read. I would certainly recommendt it especially to those who need to be educated as to what is taking place in the emergent conversations. MacArthur shoots straight as to the theological as well as philosophical errors that the emergents are taking.

Here are some pictures of my latest jobs. The first are pictures of my completed Wesley Willows job. My good friend Jeremy Scott works at Wesley Willows and is the assistant to the Administrator. He has been instrumental in processing bids that I have submitted. I am currently in the process of starting a new job for Wesley Willows painting a duplex. The Lord continues to show Himself faithful in providing for our family needs.

Busy at church

I had the opportunity to preach this past Sunday morning at Morning Star Baptist Church. Our pastor is out of town pursuing an adoption opportunity in South Carolina. I am busy with all of the extra pastoral duties in his absense plus the other duties that I currentlly have. What a great day we had on Sunday--to hear our congregation sing, to hear the Word preached, and to fellowship with the body of Christ!

We also enjoyed our fellowship with both the Koloch's Sunday afternoon at their home as well as a pancake feast at our house after the evening service. We had the Musgraves, Scotts, Karen, Mel, and Barb over as I made Swedish pancakes. I know, it's an odd menu after an evening service--usually we have sandwiches and popcorn!

We love the fellowship at our church--you can let your hair down and be yourself. We know that we are all depraved sinners, so judgmentalism is OUT THE WINDOW!

Margaret is able to minister today to a woman and her children who are interested in our church. She and her husband are a great couple who are moving up from Georgia. Margaret invited them to the Gordon's to swim--see Gordon's, we are using your heated, indoor pool for ministry! I think our kids are enjoying the ministry too as well as getting exercise for gym class.
